My Husband or Wife is Having an Affair

having an affair 300x221 Having an Affair
If your spouse is having an affair, it likely seems as if your entire world has been turned upside down. In a few cases, this behavior might be expected, but if you’re like most, you could never imagine that your spouse could cheat.

When they are having an affair, you feel betrayed beyond words. This betrayal is often surrounded by lies and deceit, which compounds the breach of trust.

Once confronted, the cheating spouse often tries to shift the blame — as if their choices are somehow your fault. Unfortunately, even in the cases where the disloyal party is contrite and committed to recovery, your marriage will never be like it was before they were having an affair.

If you’ve recently discovered an affair or have been searching for answers on how to get past one, this page could be just what you’ve been looking for. From here I’ll link to all of my resources for recovering from an affair as well as all of my articles explaining why spouses cheat and what causes a marriage to breakdown to the point where an affair can happen.

Should you kick him to the curb? Should you forgive her and forget? Should you ignore the affair or confront it head on? These are likely questions you’re asking yourself, and I hope to be able help you through them.

Your First Step

Grab a copy of Save the Marriage by Dr. Lee Baucom. It’s an excellent roadmap showing step-by-step exactly what you should and shouldn’t do to end an affair and restore your marriage. For less than the cost of one session with a marriage counselor, it just makes sense as a starting place.

I also assume that you want to try to rebuild your marriage and put the affair behind you (this is a “save marriage” site after all).

If that’s the case, take heart that there is hope. It won’t be easy, and it will take some selfless action, however marriages that have survived an affair are usually stronger than those that haven’t.

On this page I’ll link to my articles and resources that will help you to find your way back into your marriage. You’ll find that if your serious about saving your marriage, having an affair isn’t necessarily the end.

Finally, part of Dr. Baucom’s Save the Marriage addresses exactly the steps you should take if you’ve been unfaithful, but want to salvage your marriage. As unlikely as it might seem from where you are now, not only is it possible to move past an affair, once you do, you’ll likely find your marriage to be better that it’s ever been.
